This page reflects links to articles I have found over time in the mainstream media regarding change and change related issues as well as emotional intelligence. I think looking at change is a critical aspect of leadership. Why? Because all paradigm breakthroughs begin as blasphemy. So I follow a very particular protocol. Here it is. I read alternative news sources as well as mainstream. As far as the alternative news sources out there, there are a lot of kooks. So I won't track those here. However, what I am looking for is those themes which arise in the alternative news sources, and then appear in the mainstream media. That is my filter. So all that you will see on this page are mainstream media situations I think you might find interesting based on what is emerging in leadership.
Emotional Intelligence
Title: The Power of Kindness
Author: Dacher Keltner
Date: May-June 2008
Media: Utne Magazine
Comment: The name of this article doesn't do it justice. This article really is about why many leaders end up abusing power, and why that will become increasingly problematic as leadership becomes less Machiavellian and more inclusive--something that is happening today.

Energy Change (Peak Oil)
Title: Tapped Out (World Oil)
Author: Paul Roberts
Date: June 2008
Media: National Geographic Magazine
Comment: I wish the online article showed the graph contained in the magazine version. You'd see all the experts showing all production peaking around 2010, and every day after that falling even though world demand keeps increasing. Oh. There was one line that went up ad-infinitum. The US Department of Energy's estimation. Oil forever.

Financial Crisis
Title: Wake Up Call
Author: Andy Court
Date: 2007-2008
Media: 60 Minutes
Comment: The Comptroller General of the GAO, David Walker, tells 60 Minutes about the bigger threat than the trillion dollar Wall Street bailout. The Medicare and Social Security crisis--8 to 60x bigger. The difference? This one has been actuarially computed. It isn't funny math, or a possibility. Without change, it is imminent. Watch this 8 minute video. Wake Up Call
